MTV je predstavio novu kategoriju za video-muzičke nagrade - spot sa porukom. Ova specijalna kategorija slavi moć muzike i socijalnog aktivizma i veliča izvođače koji su snimili spot sa pozitivnom porukom u nameri da podignu svest o ključnim problemima sa kojima se omladina suočava.
Nominovani spotovi su:
