Trent Reznor i Randy Newman pobednici u muzičkim kategorijama na dodeli Oskara / Trent Reznor and Randy Newman win Oscars in music categories

Frontmen grupe Nine Inch Nails Trent Reznor i njegov kolega Atticus Ross osvojili su Oskara za najbolju originalnu muziku koju su uradili za soundtrack filma The Social Network. Ovo je prvi soundtrack koji je Reznor uradio. Rekao je da je potpuno šokiran, da ne veruje šta mu se dešava i da je za njega rad na muzici za ovaj film bio pravi izazov, jer se razlikuje od muzike koju obično radi, ali i veliko zadovoljstvo.

U ovoj kategoriji bili su nominovani i A. R. Rahman za film 127 sati, John Powell za How to Train Your Dragon, Hans Zimmer za Inception i Alexandre Zeplar za The King's Speach - film koji je osvojio 4 nagrade, uključujući onu za najbolji film.

Randy Newman je osvojio nagradu za najbolju originalnu pesmu We Belong Together iz filma Toy Story 3. Ovo je Newmanu čak 20. nominacija za Oskara, a tek druga nagrada. Prethodnog Oskara osvojio je 2002. godine za najbolju originalnu muziku za film Monsters, Inc. Newman je takođe bio iznenađen jer, kako kaže, misli da ta pesma nije najbolje što može da uradi, sa čime sam ja apsolutno saglasan.

Sve nominovane pesme bile su izvedene sinoć uživo. Newman je prvi otpevao svoju pesmu čiji je kompletan autor, zatim su Mandy Moore i Zachary Levy otpevali I See the Light iz filma Tangled, dok ih je kompozitor Alan Menken pratio na klaviru. Tekst za ovu numeru uradio je Glenn Slater. Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) otpevala je pesmu If I Rise iz filma 127 sati sa kompozitorom A. R. Rahmanom. Dido koja izvodi ovu pesmu u originalu i koja je ko-autor ove pesme nije mogla da nastupi zbog trudnoće. Pevala je i Gwyneth Paltrow pesmu Coming Home iz filma Country Song u kome tumači glavnu ulogu. Autori ove pesme su Bob DiPiero, Tom Douglas, Hillary Lindsey i Troy Verges.

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won Oscar for best original score they composed for The Social Netowrk soundtrack. This is the first soundtrack that Reznor composed. He was shocked and he said he couldn't belive what was happening, that working on a soundtrack was real challenge because his music is different, but it was a huge pleasure for him.

Other nominees were A. R. Rahman  for 127 Hours, John Powell for How to Train Your Dragon, Hans Zimmer for Inception and Alexandre Zeplar for The King's Speach - the movie that won 4 awards, including Best Picture.
Randy Newman won an award for Best original song - We Belong Together from Toy Story 3. This is his 20th nomination and the second award. Previously he won Oscar in 2002 for best original score for Monsters, Inc. He was also surprised, because he thinks that it's not "not the most consequential" piece of music he has composed for a film, and I'm totally agreed.
All nominated songs were performed live. Newman performed his winning song on piano. Mandy Moore and Zachary Levy performed I See the Light from Tangled, while composer Alan Menken followen them on piano. Lyricas are written by Glenn Slatter. Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) performed If I Rise from 127 Hours with A. R. Rahman who's composer. Dido, who is co-writer and original performer, couldn't show up because of pregnancy.  Gwyneth Paltrow also performed Coming Home from her latest movie Country Song.
